1. Introduction

Seam ("we", "us", or "our") operates as a Shopify application that provides daily store performance summaries to merchants. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you install and use our app.

2. Information We Collect

When you install Seam, we collect the following information:

  • Shop information: Your Shopify store domain, shop name, and owner email address.
  • Order data: Aggregated order counts, revenue totals, and product names used to generate daily summaries. We do not store individual customer records.
  • Attribution data: Landing page URLs and UTM parameters associated with orders, used to generate traffic source insights.
  • App settings: Your preferred email address for report delivery and notification preferences.
  • Meta advertising data (optional): If you choose to connect a Meta ad account, we collect aggregated performance figures for that account — spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, purchases, purchase value, ROAS, and campaign names. See section 7 for full detail.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected solely to:

  • Generate and deliver your daily store performance summaries via email.
  • Display historical summaries within the Seam app dashboard.
  • Improve the accuracy and relevance of the insights we provide.
  • Respond to support requests.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Generated summaries are retained for a rolling 30-day period and automatically deleted thereafter. Shop and settings data is retained for as long as the app is installed. Upon uninstallation, all shop data is deleted within 48 hours in compliance with Shopify requirements.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure API authentication via Shopify OAuth, and restricted database access. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Third-Party Services

Seam uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • Shopify API: To access your store data with your permission.
  • Supabase: For secure data storage.
  • Vercel: For application hosting.
  • OpenAI / AI providers: For generating natural language summaries. Only aggregated, non-personally-identifiable data is sent to AI providers.

7. Meta (Facebook) Advertising Data

Connecting a Meta ad account is entirely optional. Seam works fully without it. If you do connect one, the following applies.

What we request. Seam requests a single Meta permission, ads_read, scoped to the ad accounts you explicitly select during the connection flow. Access is granted at Meta’s read-only “Analyze” level. Seam cannot create, edit, pause, or delete campaigns, ads, budgets, or audiences, and cannot spend money on your behalf. We do not request access to Pages, catalogs, pixels, Instagram accounts, or your personal Facebook profile.

What we read. Aggregated, account-level and campaign-level performance metrics for the reporting period: spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, purchase counts, purchase value, ROAS, ad account name and currency, and campaign names. We do not read or store Custom Audiences, customer lists, individual-level ad interactions, or any personal data about the people who saw or clicked your ads.

What we do with it. These figures are placed alongside your Shopify figures so your daily insight can compare ad spend to store revenue. Aggregated metrics are included in the prompt sent to our AI provider to write that summary. No Meta personal data is sent, because we never collect any.

Storage and disconnection.Your Meta access token is stored encrypted and is used only by Seam’s scheduled job to fetch the metrics above. You can revoke access at any time from the Integrations page in the Seam app, or from Business Integrations in your Meta settings. Disconnecting deletes the stored token and the selected ad account reference immediately. Uninstalling Seam does the same.

Sharing.We do not sell, rent, or share Meta advertising data with anyone, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles or for any purpose other than generating your own store’s summaries.

8. Customer Data

Seam does not store individual customer data. We access order-level data from Shopify only to compute aggregated metrics (e.g., total orders, revenue). No customer names, email addresses, or personal details are stored in our systems.

9. Your Rights

As a merchant using Seam, you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the data we hold about your store.
  • Request deletion of your data by uninstalling the app, disconnecting an integration, or following the steps on our data deletion page.
  • Update your contact email at any time within the app settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Seam after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
